In 2007, there are 47 million Americans without health insurance (USA Economy: The Healthcare Challenge). That means one in every six American citizens either can not afford or are unable to get access to health insurance. A family of three living in Michigan can get minimum health coverage for $1613.40 dollars a year, with a 2,500 dollar deductible (Humana One). Imagine that same family making $25,000 a year after taxes. Each person in the family would eat at minimum three meals a day, and say each meal cost two dollars, that is 8,212 dollars a year just for food.
