How far was over-production the main cause of the Great Depression in the USA?

In this essay I will talk about the five main factors which contributed the Great Depression of 1929; mechanisation, the share panic, the decrease in trade from tariffs, the Wall Street crash and overproduction.
First of all, the main cause of the Great Depression was overproduction, because new mass production machinery (as mentioned in the next paragraph) meant consumer goods expanded enormously ~ there was more being produced than bought and used. This left the market saturated: everybody bought them, eventually leading to everyone already having them, not needing any more/another...
