Effective communication is a critical aspect of the development and function of any team. Specific communication styles may make one person the better choice for a particular task. For example, introverted communicators may work better alone while extroverted communicators may need the guidance of other team members to complete a particular task on time. Four general communication styles are commonly recognized amongst today’s psychologists. These styles are relating, socializing, thinking and directing (Jensen, 2000).
Relaters are considerate, sympathetic and focused on interpersonal relationships. These individuals are team players, good listeners, and cooperative participants....
