The Age of Rembrandt: A Maid Asleep
This is an oil on canvas painting, highly detailed, and has small amounts of harmony, and has emphasis because all the light vibrant colors lead the eye to the sleeping maid. Although this painting is my favorite in the Rembrandt section, I do have to say that I don’t like it very much. The painting itself is of high quality, but for some reason, I don’t seem to get any meaning from it. Overall it’s a nice painting, but doesn’t speak to me, it has no symbolism to which I understand, and can relate to.
