Crashing Against The Odds

It’s three days before my birthday. Birthdays were my favorite time of the year, usually by now I’d be able to thrive on my excitement. Instead it rained, it wouldn’t stop raining.
I sat in a hospital that night. I couldn’t talk to anyone, I was too angry. I looked out the waiting room window and watched the rain stream down the glass. The night seemed endless. It was like a terrible dream, one of those days that you hope maybe if you pinch yourself you can take yourself out of this mess that people call life. The doctors looked worried; no one would give our family an answer about what was really going on. It was like they thought they were fooling us by beating around the bush....
