Detroit Race Riots

Popular history sights the Detroit riots of 1943 as a result of conflicts between the city’s African American and Jewish populations. Conflicts have been attributed to the monopolization of business in black neighborhoods and the Jewish exploitation of the economically disadvantaged black population. However research conducted after the affair has indicated that the riots on Jewish businesses were more likely attributed to racial differences between blacks and whites than anti-Semitic feelings towards the Jewish community.
