Born in 1873 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, his parents had been slaves in Mississippi. Banks spent his entire life in the state during an era of racial discrimination and violence. Banks thought that during this time period black people believed that black’s who had strong relations to white families with lots of money were considered to be a different type of Negro. A Charles bank was one of the best known men of race. He believed the south was a natural habitat of the Negros. A Charles bank is a perfect example of what hard work really means in our society for black African American. Many people look up to him and his loyal service that he did throughout his life....
