Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) is a technology solutions provider to consumers, businesses and institutions globally. The Company's offerings span IT infrastructure, personal computing and access devices, global services and imaging and printing. Product and service categories include desktops and workstations; notebooks and tablet personal computers (PCs); printing and multifunction; handheld devices; monitors and projectors; fax, copiers and scanners; digital photography; entertainment; storage; servers; supplies and accessories; networking, and software products. As of October 31, 2003, HP organized its operations into six business segments: the Imaging and Printing Group, the Personal Systems Group, the Enterprise Systems Group, HP Services, HP Financial Services and Corporate Investments.
I work in Personal Systems Group (PSG) in Notebook Division as a Systems Engineer / Project Manager. I get involve at the design phase of the product till it is released to the manufacturer for the first customer ship. During the different phases of the project, I monitor the issues which are written by the test engineers here in Houston and also at overseas. We use Action Request System (ARS) by Remedy for issue recording. It is basically linked to the Oracle database for storing all the information which is entered using the ARS. Once an issue is recorded it is assigned to the proper owner/developer and depending on the seriousness and timing of the project, owner/developer has 24 hours to work that issue. Action Request System is a very robust application which allows me to tailor my reports according to my need. I can customize issue according to the priorities and can re-assign back to the test engineer for more information if needed.
