The conflict structure of Interdependency which is by definition, conflict occurs only between parties who need each other and who cannot simply leave the relationship with no negative consequences. Dennis Munger, requested a meeting with Stan Accord, who is the newly elected County Clerk. The meeting was in regards to the “short absence” policy put in place by Accord. Accord had defeated Munger for this position and will be Munger’s immediate supervisor. Munger has been the Department Head for 25 years, understands the view of public, and responds well to the needs of the citizens. Accord’s interest is to tighten staff supervision and require department managers to document time out of the office. He is created an organization environment of accountability. The conflict Munger has is he is not open to the new policy and Accord is not willing to listen to the needs of Munger.
