There are many ways IT can be used to direct or influence change management. There were two good case studies that provide excellent examples of change management. There are many different parts of change management and communications management. Communications management is a key issue in any change within an organization. It is very complex and consists of many different elements. The two most important success factors are the efficiency and effectiveness of communication.
There are two main phases when implementing technology in an organization, Implementation I and Implementation II. Implementation I is the project teams prospective. Implementation II is the Clients perspective. It is very crucial when going from the technical change to the change of mind set to have a clear well drawn out plan and not to forget the organizations culture when putting the plan into place. In the Implementation II phase communications management is intended to be communicated efficiently, precisely, in the appropriate language and be on the right track to the targeted group.
The Nigerian bank case focused on computerizing the branches, interconnectivity and networking of the local branches to one Wide Area Network. They went into recruiting new sets of staff, all were university graduates. One thing that stuck out to me is that the old employees without degrees were not laid off they were just relocated due to the Family environment of the WEMA bank. WEMA incorporated what had worked well with there bank with low turnovers and high employee moral, with hiring the new employees as well that were more technically trained and prepared for the changing environment.
