Riordan Manufacturing recently conducted their annual employee survey. The results showed a continued decline in employee motivation and satisfaction, primarily due to compensation and benefits. The leadership team has also voiced their concerns regarding the compensation plan and incentive system for each of their departments. It is imperative to understand the events that have occurred since the survey and voicing of concerns to understand the opportunities that Riordan Manufacturing faces. The interests of the stakeholders must also be taken into account. Conflicts that arise between these often compound the issues. Determining an optimal solution is dependent on the problem statement stating the real problem. Once this has been established, the corporation can state goals for how the corporation would like to look once the opportunity has been achieved. These goals should be measurable, realistic, and timely. This will allow it to develop an end-state vision. Alternative solutions for the opportunity should be formed and analyzed. The risks associated with the best alternative solutions should be considered before choosing the optimal solution. Once the optimal solution has been chosen, it is time to implement it. Lastly, Riordan Manufacturing will want to determine the metrics that will be used to evaluate the results of the solution implemented. If the results are not favorable, they will need to return to the beginning of the decision making process.
