Introduction
In this project I will discuss my personal management style and leadership qualities. I will discuss my task and responsibilities through examples of when I used my management and leadership qualities. I will also discuss my skills, attributes, and beliefs and how they relate to my work experiences. I will relate the “Thinking Habits of Mind, Heart, and Imagination” (Capella.com. 2006) to my experiences. Finally, I will talk about my strengths and weaknesses and discuss how I can continue to improve on my strengths and address my weaknesses.
I have worked for Caterpillar Financial for six years. While I have not held a management position yet, I have had opportunities to show leadership. The first example is in my current job as a credit analyst. I have taken the initiative to train all new employees in the department. I was not told or asked to do this but I just mentioned to my manager that I enjoy teaching the new employees. I am very analytical so I have a certain process in place of how I train the employees. My managers really appreciate this and it reflects on my annual evaluation where my managers have made several great comments about my great leadership skills.
Secondly, I also show leadership and management skills in leading the 6 Sigma team at Cat Financial. 6 Sigma is set up to find ways to improve processes. I had an idea about how we could improve our process on lien searches that would cut out part of the work and make it faster for everyone to process the lien searches.
